Bride and groom to-be stop by Presbyterian Manor for pre-wedding visit

This heartwarming story caught on via social media and two local TV stations picked it up as a good news story.

Although the pandemic has canceled and postponed special occasions around the world since March, it didn’t stop residents Eldon and Marian Akers from getting to see their granddaughter on her special day.

Ashley Akers and her then fiancé Noah Schmidt watch as Ashley’s grandparents Eldon and Marian Akers receive their corsage and boutonniere before the couple’s wedding.

Ashley Akers and her fiancé Noah Schmidt stopped by the Presbyterian Manor courtyard in October for a safe visit with her grandparents before their wedding ceremony.

“She was beautiful,” said Marian about seeing her granddaughter in her wedding dress. “It was a surprise, and it was just great to be a part of their wedding day.”

Staff arranged for Eldon and Marian to meet at the courtyard gate to receive their corsage and boutonniere and to greet the soon-to-be newlyweds.

Eldon and Marian have been married 67 years and shared this advice for Ashley and Noah: “Love each other always.”
