Community welcomes Tina Jehner as new human resources director

When Newton Presbyterian Manor announced it had hired Tina Jehner as its new human resources director back in May, the process was a little more unusual than normal.  She got the job without ever actually applying for it.

“I actually applied for a recruiter position in the home office, but they thought I’d be a good fit for the position here,” said Tina.

Tina had worked for the state of Kansas for 16 years where she began her career in human resources and eventually climbed the ranks to become human resources manager.

The position was not only a great fit professionally, but geographically as well.

“I live in El Dorado, so it’s a straight shot over here—except when the cows get out…that slows me down,” said Tina.

In her new role, Tina is primarily involved in employee recruitment which she says has provided her with a great introduction to the inner workings of the community.

“I’m the first point of contact for new employees at the Manor,” said Tina. “That carries all of the way through to when they’ve started and are getting trained – it’s been great because it’s forced me to learn more about the Manor than just my role.”

Five months into her new job, Tina says the main thing she has learned about the community is the friendliness and positivity of the residents and her fellow staff members.

“I’m really enjoying the people,” said Tina. “Everyone has such a great, positive attitude and seems to enjoy being here.”

Away from work, Tina spends most of her time attending the sporting events of her two young children or taking in some of the entertainment opportunities in nearby Wichita.
